ERPW2024 will take place in Rome (Italy) on 11-15 November 2024. The conference will be hosted by the Istituto Superiore di Sanità and co-organized with the Italian Association of Radiation Protection.
The NERIS Workshop will take place on ERPW premises on Monday 11th November afternoon, more detailed information on its topic and schedule will be shared in the coming weeks.
For this issue of the Workshop, we will focus on PIANOFORTE Call 1 Topic 3 projects and related thematic :
CITISTRA : Citizen measurements as complementary radiation monitoring strategy in threats due to armed conflict or natural disasters. Coordinated by SURO (Czech Republic)
PREDICT : Improvements in atmospheric dispersion modellIng and protective action strategies in case of nuclear detonations. Coordinated by BfS (Germaany)
RRADEW : Resilience to RADiological Events in Wartime. Coordinated by CEPN (France).
Around 1h30 will be dedicated to each projects and their related thematic with invited speakers, to present the projects their status and developments to the community.
As you may already know, the MEENAS umbrella (MELODI, EURADOS, EURAMED, NERIS, ALLIANCE and SHARE) will have its 3rd and final webinar to showcase and promote the SRAs of the platforms in 2024, concerning “Strategic Research Plans for Research in Radiation Dosimetryand Nuclear and Radiological Emergency Response and Recovery”.
This webinar will take place online on October17thfrom 16:00–18:00 CEST.
It will cover the strategic research plans for radiation dosimetry research outlined in the EURADOS SRA and the roadmap for emergency response and recovery research represented in the NERIS SRA. The SRAs as well as interlinks between them and connections to other areas and organisations will be presented and discussed during the webinar.
The webinar is free of charge, but registration is required through the following Zoom link :
The 6th International Symposium on the Ethics of Environmental Health will be held in conjunction with a workshop on “Ethics of Environmental Health in Armed Conflict Situations,” will be organised as part of RRADEW ("Resilience to RADiological Events in Wartime"), a project supported by PIANOFORTE ("European Partnership for Radiation Protection Research.") Co-sponsors will be SHARE (a European Network for "Social Sciences and Humanities in ionising radiation REsearch") and the University of South Bohemia.
It will be held in Budweis, Czech Republic on 8 – 11 September 2024.

PIANOFORTE is organizing the workshop on “Artificial Intelligence and Radiation Protection” aiming at presenting and discussing current and future artificial intelligence implementations in various sectors of radiation protection, that include medical applications, radiation dosimetry, radiobiology, radioecology, emergency preparedness, response and recovery.
The workshop objectives are to:
delineate the relevance and applicability of artificial intelligence and big data technologies in radiation protection domains and identify the thematic areas that appear to be more susceptible to artificial intelligence implementations,
identify and develop links with scientific communities specializing on artificial intelligence and big data technologies,
promote the artificial intelligence uptake and application in the 3rd PIANOFORTE open call
The workshop will be organized by NCSR “Demokritos” on its premises in Agia Paraskevi, Attica, Greece, on 18 and 19 April 2024 comprising thematic presentations followed by discussion sessions that include:
the state-of-the-art of artificial intelligence applications in radiation protection
deliberations on future research directions that will be considered in the formulation of the topics to be funded under the 3rd PIANOFORTE open call

The NERIS Workshop took place on Monday 9th October 2023 as a satellite Workshop of next ERPW in Dublin, Ireland. It gathered around 80 participants and was fruitful thanks to its speakers and qualitative presentations during the day.
The thematic of the Workshop were the following:
Radiological impact assessment including data, models and techniques
Protective actions, decision support and disaster informatics
Holistic and inclusive framework for preparedness for emergency response and recovery.
New challenges for emergency preparedness, response and recovery
