The 12th NERIS Workshop took place at ASNR headquarters in Fontenay-aux-Roses, on 28-29-30 April 2026. For the first time in years, this Workshop ran on 2,5 days. The Workshop gathered around 70 participants, coming from 20 countries, among which 2 outside of Europe (Canada and South Korea).

Agenda

The Workshop provided 33 presentations covering :

• Frameworks and lessons learned in EPRR,
• EPR&R in armed conflicts, nuclear detonations, with presentations from CITISTRA, PREDICT and RRADEW,
• Countermeasures, decision support, disaster informatics,
• EPRR for New Nuclear Technologies, with presentations from CATAPULT and GIROSCOPE,
• Radiological impact assessment,
• Presentations from CITHARA.

The 11th NERIS Workshop will take place at The Cumberland in London, as a satellite meeting of European Radiation Protection Week 2025, on 29th September for the full day.

On the morning, this Workshop will be dedicated to PIANOFORTE projects related to NERIS:

• From Call 1: CITISTRA, RRADEW, PREDICT,
• From Call 2: CATAPULT, GIROSCOPE.

In the afternoon, the Workshop will cover Emergency Preparedness Response & Recovery (EPRR) topics from the NERIS community and international organizations.

Call for abstracts                                                           

For the 2^nd part of the Workshop, abstracts are welcomed on the following topics:

1. Ongoing R&D related to the current NERIS Roadmap and beyond
   1. Radiological impact assessment
   2. Countermeasures and countermeasure strategies, decision support and disaster informatics
   3. Trans-disciplinary and inclusive framework for EPRR

2. Recent and new development related to EPRR
   1. Resilience: EPRR in armed conflicts, etc.
   2. New nuclear technologies: EPRR for SMRs/AMRs, etc.
   3. Sustainability: EPRR relation with UN Sustainable Development Goals, etc.

Other abstracts related to EPRR are also welcomed. Please send your abstracts before 4^th July by answering the filling in the following form: abstract submission.

Call for abstracts (ERPW)                                                

As a reminder, two main topics in ERPW Call for abstracts are directly related to EPRR:

• EPRR for nuclear detonation,
• EPRR frameworks, governance and stakeholder involvement.

NERIS is directly involved in reviewing abstracts related to these topics, and other that may be connected to EPRR. If we consider moving your presentation to the NERIS Workshop for practical reasons, we will keep you informed to discuss the best way to proceed.

The deadline for sending an abstract is on 13^th June at the latest. Guidelines on abstract submission are provided on ERPW 2025 website.

Programme                                                                  

This Workshop will be partly dedicated to PIANOFORTE projects related to Emergency Preparedness Response & Recovery (EPRR) topics, related to NERIS:

• From Call 2:

In addition, the NERIS community and international organizations will provide presentations on recent and new developmens related to EPRR, more specifically on:

The 16^th NERIS General Assembly was held via online-meeting, on June 30^th, 2025. The General Assembly was attended by NERIS Supporting Organisations and Members, to review activites from 2024 and discuss orientations for the platform. A new Management Board was elected.

7th European IRPA Congress, Liverpool, June 2026

The 7th European IRPA Congress, hosted by the UK Society for Radiological Protection (SRP), is set to take place from 1–5 June 2026 in Liverpool.

Call for Abstracts

Abstract submissions are now open for both oral and poster presentations. Oral submissions close on 30 September 2025, while poster submissions are accepted until 21 November 2025. Participants must create an Oxford Abstract account to submit their work. Detailed topic guidelines are available on the Congress website.

For this year, the Workshop will be partly dedicated to PIANOFORTE projects related to NERIS activities: 

• From Call 1: CITISTRA, RRADEW, PREDICT,
• From Call 2: CATAPULT, GIROSCOPE

The Workshop will also cover topics related to ongoing developments from members of the platform and invovle international organisations. A call for abstract will be sent in coming weeks and a full agenda will be sent in coming months.

Registrations to the Workshop will start together with ERPW registrations.
